So I woke up late again today...probably because I stayed up late typing last nights stupid entry. But yeah, so I took care of a few things today...I wanted to go get a haircut down on Ludlow (which is about a mile away from my house on the opposite side of campus), and it looked like it had been raining earlier, so I left the house with an umbrella, even though the ground was dry, and then it did end up raining, so much so that I just turned back because I was getting quite wet even with the umbrella...so I thought, this would probably make good running weather, I haven't run in a storm in a while.
I turned back, and on my way back the rain almost dissipated, and I was a bit sad, but don't worry, because it started pouring much harder than before when I was on the corner waiting for the light to turn a block away from my house.
I changed real quick and went for a run down to a lookout point in a nearby park, which was cool, because I haven't ventured down there yet, due to my conception that it was shady down that way...it really wasnt that bad, especially since noone is out while it is pouring. I did after that run through some mildly sketchy areas, but it was still pouring at that point and noone was outside. the rain did clear up as I got to another lookout point in a different park, which essentially offered a similar view, except this time I could actually see most of downtown Cincinnati since the rain was mostly over. I proceeded to run back to and through campus (which I dont usually do because of the large amount of people) but I figured not too many people were going to be out with the rain and school mostly being over, but as I said the rain had mostly ended, and everybody had come out from their post graduation hiding spots to run around back to their cars on campus, so there turned out to be a number of largely populated areas...not too bad though, since they avoided the puddles and I was already soaking wet.
I came back and showered, then ran to campus to take some pictures at DAAP and drop off a letter. But then I remembered it was fashion show time...which meant tons of people...who all interestingly avoided most of the senior exhibits except the tiny fine arts gallery (which is where they had appetizers and drinks I guess and people where dressed quite nicely and were too cool to move out of the way for me to actually see any of the art, so I promptly left and took pictures of the ID stuff I had looked at yesterday.
On the way out I ran into some friends from the other ID sophomore section and I talked to them...turns out they were running the "ticket" table for the show that was being "simulcast" in the auditorium due to the overflow at the actual floor show ($25 a ticket for the real, and $10 for the simulcast...pshh..), and where sketching cars in their downtime (they both got into the transportation studio for the fall)...they mentioned how they were hungry, and I was going to go get Thai anyways and eat it alone, so they gave me some money and I went and got some Chicken Pad Thai of varying spiciness from Thai Express, which is fast, tasty, and quite affordable.
I came back and spent some time trying to find them, and then we ended up taking our food out to the actual show and we Stood on the barrier at the edge of the show (which is the beginning of our parking lot) and got views that were probably better than the seats. All in all a decent show. Fun music choices and interesting fashions....definitely some better than others, but thats usually how it goes in design classes. Eric (one of the the ID kids) had expressed some interest in fashion, so its good to be back with people with some broad view points. Looking around at the Senior show at DAAP it seems like this is what it is all about, what really makes DAAP kids proud and makes the rest of UC realize we arent just a bunch of weirdo workaholics (which probably is at least partially true), but we design some damn good stuff. So yeah, I need to unpack some stuff for the room, and pack my clothes and what not for California, and once I find my cable link for my camera I will probably upload some crazy DAAP pictures.
